Awards are great to highlight your creative capabilities and to get recognition from your landscape industry peers. Needless to say, landscaping awards also get a lot of free publicity like this blog:
What goes without notice is often the slippery deadlines and planning ahead to get one even when you deserve it! Let’s change that, shall we? Here are some of the upcoming ones you should definitely aim for.
#1 Global Affairs Canada Design Competition
Are you a Canadian landscaper or architect with some serious body of previous works? This might be your chance to win the bragging rights with a commemorative installation planned by Global affairs Canada and The Department of Canadian Heritage.
Where will the new artwork be hosted:
John G. Diefenbaker Building at 111 Sussex Drive in Ottawa
What’s the prize:
The winner in this two phase contest will be recommended to the NCC for a contract with potential value of $2,611,250(excluding applicable taxes.)
What you need to get started:
- A letter of interest
- A résumé for each team member with references images
- Information about previous built projects of a similar nature

#2 APLD International Landscape Design Awards
Association of Professional Landscape Designers has also released their submission requirements for individual landscape designers. For 2021, award categories include:
- Residential
- Non-residential
- Small Gardens
- Planting Design
- Show Gardens
- Specialty Projects
- Details
All entries will go through multi level, anonymous selection process. Submission guidelines include writing a brief that considers plant hardiness zones, site details, client requirements and more. Find out all the details in the brochure below.

#3 CSLA Awards of Excellence 2021
The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects has sent out feelers for their annual excellence awards. All architects practicing within or outside Canada are eligible for entries! International projects apart from Canada and US are also eligible for the award, provided external assessment is possible.
Deadline for Submission: 4:30 pm CT on Friday, January 22nd, 2021.
